Vocal Splitter: Separate Any Song into Vocals and Instrumental
The Vocal Splitter takes a song and returns two tracks: the vocals on their own, and the instrumental with the vocals removed. Upload an audio file and both come back as separate tracks you can play, download, or feed into your next step.
It runs on BS-RoFormer, the model that won the 2023 Sound Demixing Challenge and still leads the public vocal separation leaderboards. It is built for exactly this two-way split, so the instrumental is a true remainder of the mix rather than a sum of other stems.
What can you do with it?
- Make a karaoke or instrumental version of any song
- Extract the acapella for remixes, covers, and sampling
- Clean vocals for transcription or lyric work
- Swap the vocals by keeping the instrumental and recording over it
- Check a mix by listening to the vocal and the backing separately
How to use it
- Upload your song. mp3, wav, flac, and m4a all work.
- Run it. A typical song takes under a minute.
- Get your tracks. Two labeled outputs: vocals and instrumental.
Vocal Splitter or Stem Splitter?
Use the Vocal Splitter when you want vocals versus everything else. Use the Stem Splitter when you need the instrumental broken down further into drums, bass, guitar, piano, and the rest. The Vocal Splitter gives a cleaner two-way split because it is trained for that split alone.
Tips
- Use the best source you have. A 320 kbps mp3 or a lossless file separates more cleanly than a low-bitrate rip.
- Songs up to 20 minutes are accepted. Split longer recordings first.
- Heavy vocal effects such as thick reverb or vocoders can leave traces in the instrumental. That is the model working as intended: it treats the effect as part of the voice.
