Meshy 7: Photos to Rigged, Animated 3D Models
Meshy 7 turns photos into a textured 3D model you can rig and animate in the same run. Attach 1 photo and it reconstructs the object in 3D. Attach 2 to 4 shots of the same object from different angles and it fuses them into one model consistent with every view. Turn on auto-rigging and a humanoid character comes back with a skeleton, walking and running animations included; pick a preset from Meshy’s library of nearly 700 actions and it comes back already moving.
Output lands in your library as a 3D asset viewable right in Mitte: orbit, zoom, and inspect it before you download the GLB, FBX, OBJ, or USDZ into Blender, Unity, Unreal, or a web viewer.
What can you do with it?
- Turn product photos into 3D. One clean shot of a sneaker or a lamp reconstructs the full object, including the sides the camera never saw.
- Bring a character to life in one run. A character illustration becomes a rigged, animated model: mesh, skeleton, and a dance or run cycle in a single generation.
- Digitize a real object precisely. Shoot it from a few angles and multi-image mode builds a model that matches all of them.
- Prototype game assets. Low-poly mode outputs clean, game-ready polygons instead of dense scan-style geometry.
- Steer the surface, keep the shape. A texture reference image or a texture prompt restyles the materials without touching the geometry.
How to use it
- Fill the Object Views slots. 1 photo reconstructs the object; 2 to 4 photos of the same object from different angles switch to multi-image mode for higher fidelity.
- Optionally steer the textures. The Texture Prompt guides the materials with words (“worn bronze, verdigris in the crevices”), and the Texture Reference slot takes an image whose look they should copy. Both shape the surface only, never the geometry.
- Flip on Ultra for hero assets. Single-image runs can enable ultra mode for finer surface detail.
- Rig and animate characters. In the settings popup, auto-rig adds a humanoid skeleton with walking and running animations; add an animation preset ID to get the model back performing that action.
- Tune the geometry if you need to. Topology, target polycount, symmetry, pose (A-pose or T-pose), PBR maps, and low-poly mode all live in the settings popup.
What you get
One 3D model with textures, delivered as GLB and downloadable in FBX, OBJ, and USDZ as well. Rigged runs add a rigged character file plus walking and running animation clips; animated runs add the animated model in GLB and FBX.
Pricing follows your choices: $0.80 for an untextured mesh, $1.20 textured, $1.40 with ultra mode. Auto-rigging adds $0.20 and animation adds $0.12.
Tips
- More angles beat one. If the object exists and you can walk around it, take the extra shots. Guessed-at back sides become measured ones.
- Shoot clean references. A centered object on a plain background reconstructs better than a busy scene. Crop tight.
- Rig in a neutral pose. Set pose mode to A-pose or T-pose when you plan to rig; a character with clearly visible, separated limbs rigs far better than one with crossed arms.
- Match the height for characters. Rigging takes an approximate character height in meters, so a 0.4 m goblin and a 2.2 m knight both animate at the right scale.
- Browse the animation library first. The preset ID picks the action, from idle (0) up through hundreds of walks, attacks, and dances. Grab the ID from Meshy’s animation library docs.
- Use low-poly mode for stylized assets. It produces cleaner, chunkier polygons and ignores the remesh controls, so there’s no need to fight the polycount slider.
- PBR maps are one switch away. Turn them on to get metallic, roughness, and normal maps alongside the base color when your engine expects full materials.
