Upscale video up to 4x its original resolution with Topaz Video AI, the industry standard for video enhancement. Upload a clip and get back a sharper, cleaner version, with optional frame interpolation up to 60 FPS.
By default it runs Starlight Fast 2, Topaz’s diffusion-based restoration model. For specific footage types you can switch to any of Topaz’s specialist models: Proteus for general footage, Artemis for degraded sources, Gaia for animation and CG, Nyx for pure noise reduction.
What can you do with it?
- Upscale AI-generated video. Bring a 720p generation up to 1080p or 4K before publishing.
- Restore rough footage. Compression artifacts, noise, and halos get cleaned while the video enlarges.
- Smooth out choppy motion. Set a target FPS and Apollo frame interpolation fills in the missing frames. A 24 FPS clip becomes fluid 60 FPS.
- Enhance animation and CG. The Gaia models are trained specifically for rendered content and motion graphics.
- Denoise without upscaling. Run a Nyx model at 1x to clean a clip at its original size.
How to use it
- Upload your video. MP4, MOV, WebM, any common format.
- Set the upscale factor. 1x to 4x, with 2x as the default.
- Pick a model if needed. Starlight Fast 2 runs by default; the settings menu has the full Topaz lineup for specialist footage.
- Run it, then download the result or send it into your next step.
Settings
- Model: 16 Topaz models across 4 families. Starlight (diffusion restoration), Proteus and Artemis (precision enhancement), Gaia (animation and CG), Nyx (noise reduction).
- Target FPS: 16 to 60. Setting it turns on frame interpolation; leaving it empty keeps the original frame rate.
- Compression, noise, halo: cleanup strengths from 0 to 1. Leave them empty and each model applies its own tuned defaults.
- Film grain: adds a touch of grain (0 to 0.1) back onto the cleaned output so it doesn’t look plastic.
- Recover detail: how much of the original texture to preserve versus the model’s reconstruction.
- H.264 output: the default is H.265; flip this on when a platform or editor needs H.264.
Tips
- Match the model to the footage. Starlight Fast 2 handles most real-world clips. Heavily compressed sources like Artemis LQ; anime and motion graphics belong to Gaia 2.
- Leave the cleanup dials empty at first. The per-model defaults are well tuned; only override them when you see a specific problem.
- Interpolation doubles as slow-motion prep. Upscale to 60 FPS, then slow the clip in your editor with frames to spare.
- A little grain sells the result. 0.02 to 0.04 keeps skin and surfaces from looking overly smooth.
