How it works

No lenses, lights or second takes. The model handles the camera; you handle the description. Covering subject, mood and light, and framing and camera in your prompt gives the most consistent results, and the more film-specific the wording, the more control you get.
Start from with image (image-to-video)
You can start from image. Add a starting image & simple prompt and the preset animates it into a cinematic shot (image-to-video), which is the most reliable way to lock a specific subject or composition before adding motion. Bring your own image, or generate one from the AI image models and use it as the first frame.
What makes a shot look cinematic
Four things separate a cinematic AI video from an obvious one.
- Light: cinema rarely lights everything evenly. One main source, shadows allowed to fall, contrast on purpose.
- Lens & depth: a shallow depth of field (sharp subject, soft background) signals a real lens and guides the eye.
- Color grade: film tends toward muted, slightly warm or cool tones, not maxed-out saturation.
- Motion: deliberate moves (slow push-in, locked-off, light handheld drift) instead of aimless drifting, which is the usual AI giveaway.

Editing and extending a clip
Once a clip is generated, you can keep working on it in the editor without starting over:
- Edit: open the clip in the video editor.
- Recreate: run the same prompt again for a different take.
- Extend: continue the shot for a longer duration.
- Reuse prompt: load the prompt back in to tweak and regenerate.
- Frames: pull still frames out of the clip.
The Edit menu adds Trim, Change speed, Re-color, Edit audio, Edit by prompt and Upscale. Edit by prompt is the key one: describe a change in plain language (grade, lighting, camera move) and it reworks the shot for you.
Best practices
- Name at least one camera move; static-by-accident shots are the most common weak result.
- Add a focal length (35mm, 50mm) plus “shallow focus” when you want clear subject separation.
- Keep one clear subject per shot. For a sequence, plan it with the Film Storyboard preset, then generate each frame here.
- Iterate with Edit by prompt rather than rewriting from scratch.
